Deck/Stairs/Ramp Application

Requirements

To make a deck and/or stairs/ramp application, you will need the following:

1. CAMA Permit: Heather Styron is the CAMA contact with the NC Department of Environmental Quality covering North Topsail Beach and is available at heather.m.styron@deq.nc.gov 252-515-5417 (office) 252-725-3903 (work cell). Please inquire about the need for a CAMA determination.
2. Simple Building Permit Application (online)
3. Zoning & Floodplain Development Permit Application (online)
4. Sketch of:
   1. Location on property
   2. Deck dimensions
5. Building plans

Application Process

Please complete the following applications in this order:

1. Log into: https://www.citizenserve.com/northtopsailbeach
2. Complete a Zoning & Floodplain Development Application:
   1. Mouse over “Services” tab in the top bar
   2. Click on "Planning and Zoning"
   3. In the left-hand column, click on "Apply online"
   4. Select "Zoning and Floodplain Permit" in the drop-down menu
   5. Complete the application and click "Submit"
      1. Once submitted, make note of this permit number (ex. ZFP21-000xxx)
3. Complete a Simple Build Application:
   1. Mouse over “Services” tab in the top bar
   2. Click on "Permits"
   3. In the left-hand column, click on "Apply online"
   4. Select "Simple Build Permit" in the drop-down menu
   5. Complete the application
      1. Indicate “Existing Project” and enter the ZFP permit number noted above
   6. Once complete click "Submit"

The application process will request the upload of the application documents.
