Planned Power Outage

MESSAGE FROM JOEMC - Planned outage May 17, 2024
 

Dear Member, 

In our continued effort to provide you with reliable electric service, we have been installing transmission sectionalizing switches. These switches give JOEMC the capability to isolate sections of the faulted transmission lines, which will help expedite restoration time if an outage occurs. To safely commission this new equipment, we need to have a planned outage in the early morning hours of May 17, 2024.  The outage is scheduled to begin at midnight and should be completed by 4 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024. 

The outage will affect members served by five substations. These substations are Bridge, Percy Jenkins, Sneads Ferry, Wheeler Creek, and Chadwick Acres. The entire Sneads Ferry area will be part of this outage, as well as services along New River Inlet Road in North Topsail Beach and Island Drive to the Surf City town limits. If you are receiving this letter, you have a service that will be affected. 

Our automated phone system will make a reminder call the day before the outage. Please ensure we have your correct phone number before this date. If we do not have your correct phone number, call 910-353-1940, have your account number handy, and choose option 2, then listen to the instructions for updating your phone number.  A reminder email will also be sent to members who have given us an email address.
