Phase 1 Project Update (11-22-23)

Please be advised that the Town’s contractor is preparing to resume and finish the Phase 1 beach project as scheduled on Monday November 27^th. The contractor will be accessing the beach at Beach Access #41 (Jenkins Way Parking Lot located at 1294 NRI Rd). This lot will remain closed for the duration of the project, which is expected to take between two and four weeks, depending on weather and surf conditions. Sand will be placed just South of Topsail Reef Villas and continue South towards Oceans Edge Restaurant at the St. Regis.

Nourishment Permitting of NON-COBRA Areas in Phase 1 Beach (not Dune) Nourishment

Phase 1 Truck Haul

The Town has USACE and CAMA permits to place up to 45,000 cubic yards of truck hauled sand along the Phase 1 shoreline in the area of the Topsail Reef Villas and just north. Planning is underway for this project to occur this upcoming environmental window (November 16, 2022 to April 15, 2023). Please note that this project will commence following the Phase 1 USACE dredge project. This section of shoreline is not in the CoBRA zone (which limits federal funding for many projects).
