11-15-23 Beach Nourishment Project Updates

PHASE 5
	Operations will resume November 16, 2023 as scheduled. Trucks will be entering the Gray Street beach access and will start placing sand at the Surf City line and continue approximately 3,200 feet North of the Town line. The Contractor will pause operations for the Thanksgiving holiday on November 23^rd and November 24^th. At the close of last season, we placed 410,905 Cubic Yards of sand and expect to place an additional 225,095 Cubic Yards of sand that is expected to be completed in February 2024! The contractor will be pausing for Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday.

PHASE 1
	The Town’s permit modification to request a November 1^st start date was denied. The Town’s contractor is preparing to start November 27^th. Sand will be placed just South of Topsail Reef Villas and continue South towards Oceans Edge Restaurant at the St. Regis.

FEMA Phase 5 Truck-Hauled Sand Project

The FEMA NTB Phase 5 Cat. G truck-hauled sand project commenced on Monday, February 28th, 2022. The contractor, S.T. Wooten Corporation, is utilizing the Gray Street Beach Access and began working to the north from Gray Street.

Phase 1 Truck Haul

The Town has USACE and CAMA permits to place up to 45,000 cubic yards of truck hauled sand along the Phase 1 shoreline in the area of the Topsail Reef Villas and just north. Planning is underway for this project to occur this upcoming environmental window (November 16, 2022 to April 15, 2023). Please note that this project will commence following the Phase 1 USACE dredge project. This section of shoreline is not in the CoBRA zone (which limits federal funding for many projects).
