Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Navigation Branch will conduct navigation-related dredging of the Atlantic intracoastal waterway (AIWW) and channels to Jacksonville and place beach compatible material on Phase 1 shoreline.  About 88,000 cubic yards of beach compatible material will be pumped by pipeline and placed at ~2342 New River Inlet Road (NRIR) and work south approximately 2,000 to 4,000 feet.  It is anticipated that the nourishment MAY extend down to around Porpoise Place (project pay volumes are based on dredged waterway and not on beach placement).  This is a USACE permitted, funded, and constructed project and the Town has limited input into project construction.  The dredge contractor is scheduled to perform this project in the upcoming environmental window (November 16, 2024, to April 1, 2025).   We anticipate the project starting between December 5th and mid-December and work to continue for 30 days.
