Floodplain Manager
The Floodplain Manager is responsible for documenting the community's floodplain management program to ensure compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program and any state laws related to floodplain management at the local level. Visit Flood Protection page for more information.
Flood Permits
The Town has adopted regulations, which exceed the minimum Requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), as indicated in 44 CFR Parts 59–General Provisions and 60–Criteria for Land Management and Use. If any provisions of the North Carolina Building Code or Town Code are inconsistent with any of the AEC standards, the more restrictive provision shall control.
CRS Coordinator
Since 2000, the Town participates in Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Community Rating System (CRS) Program. The Town's current ISO rating "5" provides an annual discount of 25% for National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policies. To determine if your eligible for this discount, contact your insurance agent.
